Prime Contractor Supply is seeking a highly skilled and safety-conscious Flatbed CDL A Driver to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for safely operating and driving our trucks to facilitate deliveries and pickups. You will also be tasked with loading and unloading materials using a forklift, ensuring compliance with safety standards and DOT regulations, and maintaining accurate delivery records. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, a commitment to safety, and a passion for excellent customer service.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Truck Operation & Delivery:

    • Safely operate flatbed trucks to transport precast and construction materials to and from job sites and customer locations.

    • Perform routine inspections and maintenance checks on trucks and forklifts to ensure safe operation.

    • Load and unload precast materials using forklifts, ensuring proper safety protocols and efficient handling.

    • Maintain accurate logs of delivery times, destinations, and cargo.

    • Coordinate with dispatch to ensure timely and accurate delivery of materials.

    • Follow all DOT regulations and company guidelines to ensure compliance with weight limits, rest breaks, and other safety standards.

    • Ensure that all required paperwork is completed in a timely and accurate manner, including delivery records and inspection reports.

  • Safety & Compliance:

    • Perform DOT pre-trip and post-trip inspections on trucks and equipment to ensure they meet safety standards.

    • Report any defects, violations, or citations immediately to management.

    • Adhere to all safety guidelines and company policies to maintain a safe and compliant working environment.

    • Ensure that all work is performed in accordance with company safety standards and DOT regulations.

  • Customer Service:

    • Provide excellent customer service by delivering products on time and in good condition.

    • Communicate with operations and other team members to ensure a smooth and efficient delivery process.

    • Collaborate with team members to meet customer expectations and resolve any delivery-related issues.

  • Physical Demands & Maintenance:

    • Perform physical tasks, including throwing straps, rolling tarps, and lifting chains, as required.

    • Ensure proper handling of equipment and materials during the loading and unloading process.

    • Assist with basic truck maintenance and upkeep, reporting any mechanical issues as needed.

  • Additional Duties:

    • Provide administrative support to the general manager and assist with other duties as needed.

    • Handle any unforeseen situations (such as traffic or weather conditions) with foresight and adaptability to maintain efficient service.

 

Experience:

  • Licenses:

    • Valid CDL A license with a clean driving record and reliable transportation.

    • Current DOT medical card.

  • Experience:

    • 2+ years of Class A CDL driving experience, including short and long-distance driving.

    • Minimum of 6 months of flatbed and strapping experience.

    • Experience operating forklifts is preferred (certification is a plus, but not required).

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Basic experience with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, Outlook) for record-keeping and communication.

  • Comfortable using a computer and learning new software systems related to dispatch and delivery management.

  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage delivery schedules and paperwork.

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, for coordinating with dispatch and customer service teams.

  • Physically capable of lifting and moving heavy materials as required.

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and manage time effectively.

  • Commitment to safety, punctuality, and reliability in all aspects of the job.

  • Ability to handle unexpected situations (such as changes in weather, traffic, or delivery schedules) with adaptability and foresight.



 

Additional Requirements:

  • Must pass pre-employment background check and drug test.

  • Ability to work in various weather conditions and on construction sites.

  • Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including hard hats, safety glasses, and protective footwear, as required.
