Description Our premier client, who is a leading contributor of community engagement in Laguna Beach is looking for a stellar controller. Current Responsibilities in this role are: - Annual budget development and forecasting - Input and coordinate monthly financial status reports - Provide budget to actual variance explanations for board and staff - Prepare monthly or quarterly account reconciliations as needed - Assist with the long-range financial planning process and make suggestions to ensure that LAM meets its strategic financial goals - Assist in the management of the external audit - Ensure year end reports are delivered to required parties - Analyze internal controls to ensure efficiency and minimize risk - Ensure compliance with local state and federal regulations - Is knowledgeable in accepting payments, preparing deposits and delivering deposits to the bank - Monitor investment funds and transfer money as directed by ED, Finance Committee and Board for operational needs - Control access to financial banking and vendor accounts B. Additional Responsibilities once accounting is brought in-house - Full cycle accounting including billing, Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable - General Ledger and accounting - Close books accurately and timely - monthly, quarterly and yearly - Facilitate hiring of external auditors at the direction of the Audit Committee - Manage the external audit GRANT and FUNDRAISING FINANCIAL MANGEMENT - Provide financial grant management by analyzing and reporting on various grants and meeting all financial grant reporting deadlines and requirements. - Assist Fund Development with financial sections of grant applications and reports - Bill all grants on schedule - Intersect with Development staff to ensure contributed revenue is tracked and accounted - Suggest adjustments to the Development budget to optimize resource allocation - Ensure proper tracking and reporting of restricted funds ensuring they are used according to donor intent and legal requirements.
