Empire Landscape LLC, located in Silver Spring, MD is offering an opportunity for a hard working motivated individual to join the team as a Part-Time Nursery Assistant. This individual would be assisting with nursery production for the environmental restoration work that Empire specializes in. A successful assistant will be able to help keep the plant material for various crews organized, supplied, and operating smoothly while also getting hands on experience with horticultural practices within the green industry. This position will require a minimum of 20 hours a week with a start date if Mid-August. If the employee demonstrates strong performance and reliability, there is potential to transition into a full-time role.

Responsibilities:

• Load/Unload plants and sort into designated areas.
• Organize, stock, sort, and maintain cleanliness in the nursery areas.
• Planting production and maintenance tasks like potting, weeding, watering, pruning, etc.
• Assisting with plant selection, pulling, and tagging for projects.
• Loading and unloading plant deliveries.
• Operating skid loader, mini-skid, and other small machinery.

Qualifications

• High school diploma.
• Ability to drive a truck and trailer and maintain a DOT certification.
• Ability to operate skid loader, mini-skid, and other small machinery
• Self-starting, attentive, detail oriented, and eagerness to learn
• Fluent in English or Spanish
• Able to lift 50-60 lbs, squat, kneel, or stand for periods of time in relation to specific tasks
• Experience in landscape or nursery production preferred
